Acceptable use

The short version
- Use Cortado to run your own shops.
- Don't resell it, break it, overload it, or try to see anyone else's data.
- Keep your customers' personal details and anything sensitive about your staff out of it.
- Found a security problem? Tell us. We say thank you, not see you in court.
This box is a summary, not the agreement. Everything below it is.
This policy is part of the terms of service. Please don't use Cortado to:
Misuse the service
- resell, sublicense, rent or white-label it, or offer it to other businesses as your own;
- try to reach another business's data, another account, or parts of the system you weren't given;
- get around rate limits, plan limits or security controls, or share one account between businesses;
- send automated traffic that slows it down for everyone else, or scrape it;
- copy, reverse engineer or build a competing product from it, except where the law lets you;
- use the AI features to generate content that has nothing to do with running your shop.
Put the wrong things in it
- Your customers' personal details. Cortado is built to know what sold, not who bought it. Leave names, emails, phone numbers and card details out of item names, notes and uploads.
- Sensitive information about staff. No Social Security numbers, bank details, immigration documents, medical information or anything similar, in notes or anywhere else.
- anything unlawful, or anything you don't have the right to put into a third-party system;
- malware, or files meant to attack the service or the people using it.
Use it to hurt someone
- to harass or discriminate against staff, including through how shifts are handed out;
- to break wage and hour laws, or to keep false records for an inspector.
Security research is welcome
If you think you have found a vulnerability, email sen@cortado.services before testing further. Don't access data that isn't yours, don't degrade the service, and give us a reasonable time to fix it before telling anyone. If you do that in good faith, we won't treat it as a breach of these terms.
If this is broken
We may remove the content, limit the feature, or in serious or repeated cases suspend the account, as set out in the terms. Except where it is urgent, we will tell you first and give you a chance to put it right.
Questions about any of this? Email sen@cortado.services and a person will answer.
